This annex to The Library of Congress is located across the street from The Capital One Arena. The program is to house a small collection open to the public, and allow space for lectures or events.
This building is located in a heavily trafficked area of the city, especially by tourists. A design that imposed a sense of wonder on pedestrians became a great way to ensure recognition against the surrounding attractions.

Knowledge is the result of perusing wonder. Placing the gem of knowledge on a shelf as if its an artifact to be studied became the perfect representation for this annex.
Second Floor
East Elevation
The southern facade is entirely blocked by a building. In many instances, losing the southern exposure is less than ideal. To make up for this loss, the southern wall became a large cavity wall allowing all of the buildings utility's to align vertically through one place. From the simple vertical shaft each utility can be distributed thought each floor increasing efficiency and ease of malignance.
